I play a keilwerth Tenor King Solo made in 1950. I do not know anything of the history of this instrument. It is gold laquered.
Please let me know if you have some information about the history of this instrument.

Hi Arno, welcome to Saxwelt. A bit a problem with the language, 'cause nearly everything here is in German. If you look on the left side "Navigation": Go to "Galerien/Interviews", then to "Sax-Hersteller", there you will find some informations about Keilwerth, like Models, Serial Numbers and others. However, there is a "King" Model, build between 1930 and 1956, but not mentioned a "King Solo" If your Sax is build in 1950, it seems to be one of the first Instruments, build in Germany after WWII.

The Keilwerth you have is probably a Toneking Solo, is that correct? The Toneking Solo used to be the Solist Model in earlier days.

The model III became the King model (no microtuner anymore)
The model II became the The New King model (no microtuner anymore)
The model I became the Toneking I (with microtuner, cloth guard, mother of pearls rollers)
The Solist became the Toneking Solo (with mircrotuner and extra mother of pearls inlays, mother of pearl rollers and cloth guard).

It used to be the top of the line saxophone made by Keilwerth. Does your Solo have the exra mother of pearls inlays on the side keys etc. like the King Super 20? It probably has a microtuner and rolled toneholes.

Do you have the serial number?

There is a King Solo, without "Toneking". I owned one. They are of very good handcraft quality. I couldn't find anything about the history, and the serial number seemed not to be a normal Keilwerth one.
I sold it again, because a "Major by Selmer Düsseldorf", a stencil made by Keilwerth, had a better sound in my ears (which was really a matter of taste)

hier ein paar Fotos von meinem King Solo von 1969. Bemerkenswert die schönen Klappenschutzgitter. Auch sonst: Sehr noble handwerkliche Ausführung.
Wie sich das ins Keilwerth-Programm einreihte, weiß ich nicht, aber anscheinend nicht so, wie MOS es vermutet.
